How does my garden grow, part 1

I thought it would be fun to post pictures of my pepper garden on the first of every month this spring and summer. One of the things I did today was buy some pepper sets. They're very small still, too small to go outside even if it was time (I'm not putting the peppers in the garden until May 1 at the very earliest), but I did transplant them into bigger peat pots. Then I used the starter pots they were in for some more pepper seeds. Since it was warmer outside than in today, I brought my other pepper seedlings out for the afternoon. Here are pictures of them.

<--Pepper seedlings on the back porch. I know, the picture is crooked. Sorry, just tilt your head.

I also did some work in the garden and mowed the back yard today. Now I'm showered and in my nightgown for the evening (yes, it's only 5pm, but I'm TIRED), and the laundry room and kitchen is full of pepper plants.

How fun! Gardens are the best. Ours is too small for "real" gardening, but we'll have plenty of tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash. The beets are all mine.

Mine, I say.

Beets, ew. You can have them.

I want to grow squash this year, and we're going to try tomatoes too (last year something killed all of our tomato plants). Other than those, our garden areas are given over to peppers this year. Mom has made a new herb bed in the front yard, though.

Wow, that looks like a lot of work. I tip my hat to you, KC.

I'm happy if I stay on top of the mowing of the lawn, which probably won't start until the end of May.

All seven of my tomatoes are up, just sprouts yet, but it is a start. good luck with the peppers. it is no wonder you named your dragon that.

Alan--It's fun, so it doesn't count as work. Unlike lawn-mowing, which I don't like. You're lucky that you don't have to worry about it until May.

Jamie--I've never tried to grow tomatoes from seed. Good luck with yours!

Looking good. I kill plants. I'd be happy if I could buy pretty garden centre arrangements at the beginning of every spring and then throw them out in autumn.

Maybe you can get plastic plants. You can pretend to water them every day so your neighbors won't suspect. :)

It looks so wonderfully warm where you are! It's nice here for about two hours in the afternoon, then the heat goes back on.

That's A LOT of peppers. Do you freeze them or give them away?

I'm going to be selling a lot of the peppers at our farmer's market. I'll only be keeping four or five of each variety to grow. There's not enough room for all of them in my little garden!
