It's my birthday. Where's my rejection?

Today's my birthday. I am now officially Too Old. Also, I've decided to start counting years backwards from now on.

I always get a rejection on my birthday, generally of a book or story I have high hopes for. Well, right now I have ten books/stories out, and five queries to agents. And it's 7:30 and I haven't heard a word from any of them.

Someone is falling down on the job of making my life suck.

I actually got the callback on my first novel the day before my birthday.

I was at a nasty car repair shop in a bad neighborhood because my car died on a lunchbreak during a miserable data-entry temp job. I felt like I was going to kill myself the moment my birthday rolled around again (I hate birthdays).

Then, I got the phone call, and I spent all the next day - my birthday - doing a fast proof and print of the requested full.

I bet this'll happen to you, too. Keep kicking at the door and it'll bust open eventually.

Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better! Wow, I've never had a birthday as crappy and yet as wonderful as yours.

My cousin remedied the birthday rejection by sending me one from a fictitious magazine for a fictitious story. That's the best kind of rejection. :)

Well, hi!

I had no idea that you were in this world.

I suppose everyone left LJ but the old folks.

I still like LJ, but I think blogspot is more flexible.
