This is how I spend my money

I got my book orders today! Ten books! This is why I have no money; I have more books than sense at this point. I would claim that I won't buy any more books for myself this year, but who am I kidding? My birthday's coming up next month. I have to buy myself a book, or two, or ten.

With one exception (Gary Blackwood), I ordered every single one of these books because I'd heard of it on a book blog. I don't browse for books the way I used to; I don't need to. I've found a number of book bloggers with tastes similar to mine and whose reviews I trust. Word of mouth is a very real, very important thing these days.

Anyway, here are the books I've ordered. I don't know what to read first!

The 13th Reality by James Dashner
Freak Show by James St. James
The Crowfield Curse by Pat Walsh
The Demon and the City by Liz Williams
Expiration Date by Duane Swierczynski
The Magic Thief: Lost by Sarah Prineas
Magic Below Stairs by Caroline Stevermer
Petronella Saves Nearly Everyone by Dene Low
Jaran by Kate Elliott
The Year of the Hangman by Gary Blackwood

I can think of no nobler way to wast--er spend money. I just don't seem to have the time to read them all.

Money well spent.

Aaron--Ha, I just found the time to read one! One down, nine to go!

Angela--I think so too. Good thing, since I can't afford anything else until next payday!

Oh, someone who loves spending all their money on books as much as I do. I reeive regular deliveries from The Book Depository because I absolutely need those books. Happy reading :)

Hmm...my birthday is Saturday. Perhaps I need to stop by BORDERS ; )

Danielle--Yes, I need those books too! It's not a simple want, it's a need.

Natalie--Happy birthday! I think a Borders visit is an important part of any birthday celebration.

Rather than wasting ten minutes staring at my bookshelf, I take some numbers from the barcode of the book I've just read, add them together and then count through my books. It's a flawed plan, but it's working for now.

Sounds reasonable to me. :)

You gotta read books; you're a writer. They're an occupational resource.

I could live with all decisions being along the lines of which book to read first -

As decisions go, it's certainly among the best. Right up there with "shall I have an ice cream sundae or apple pie a la mode?"
