Books everywhere, lists everywhere

I signed up on Goodreads a few months ago, and now it seems like half the people I know are on it too. That's cool. Since I've already catalogued pretty much my entire library on LibraryThing, though, I decided to just use Goodreads to list small press published books.

Of course, now it looks like I'm a weirdo whose library consists mostly of books about the occult. Hey, I can't help it that small presses are more likely to have interesting niche books on unusual topics!

I'm now 30 books into my read-50-books-in-2010, and 6 books into my read-10-books-published-by-small-presses. This time last year I had only read 25 books, so I'm doing pretty darn good. Now I just need to write more.

Does one have to be a member at either of those sites to see yours and/or other people's book lists?

Don't fret, we're all a little weird(o). ;)

Jameson--No, the lists are mostly public. I've got widgets on the right sidebar of my blog that link to my books, and on Goodreads at least I'm friended to several people we both know. I like LibraryThing, but Goodreads is a little more interactive a la Facebook.

Cate--Glad to hear it! Either that or terrified to hear it, can't decide. :)

I'm more or less OK with my writing amount. Reading, however, is lagging. Plus I've been buying non-fiction books, which is incredibly distracting ; )

It would take me days, if not months to list all my books, but at the moment I'm to busy writing to start listing them. It's a great idea though, one day I might make a start. It could take me quite a while to do it if I keep stopping to read each book.

I didn't even know about Library Thing. I think I'll just stick with Goodreads.

Natalie--I love reading nonfiction! There's not as much pressure, either, since most nonfiction books you can just dip into and read bits and pieces instead of the whole thing straight through.

Jarmara--It's a great temptation to sit down and reread books when I'm trying to catalogue them, especially the picture books. :)

Danielle--I'm not sure about Goodreads, but LibraryThing does have a fee if you want to list more than 100 or 200 books or something like that. I think Goodreads just has ads instead.

30 books is nothing to sneeze at. I think I am up to 15 and pretty happy about it.

15's not bad either.

When I got to 30, I mentioned to my mom that I'd read 30 books this year, only I misspoke and said '30 books this week.' She said, "Were they all Dr. Seuss books?" :)
